Hi Friends,
Its for the first time,I have entered into this interesting, creative field of blogging.Any mistakes, excuse me.I would like to start my blog with an issue, that everyone could relate themselves to.It is the generation gap existing in the society.Between the parents and the children. When I mean parents,I use it in a broader sense.Parents mean all the elders.Or the parent and the Grandparent generation people.I hope this topic has a wide range of appeal.
Children want their parents not to scold them, parents cant prevent themselves from not scolding their children.Children want their parents to be cool, while parents expect their children to be responsible.Children like spendthrift parents, parents like their children to save and realise the value of money. The gap goes on...
What would be the actual reason for this gap. This question made me think more and more as I am myself a victim of this gap.I was speaking to my grandma on a random day.And one good thing about grandparents is that whatever they speak, they speak with experience. She was telling me about the parentage defects in our so called 'GEN Y'.She told me one interesting thing."Your mom never argued with me anyday. She always respected my words. She never pointed a finger at me.She never questioned me.Same must have been the case with your dad.It is not the case with you.You argue with your mom.You question your mom's decision. You shout.Let me brief you the reason for it.The difference is in parentage.I brought up your mom the way my mom brought me up.But your mom never brought you up they way I brought her up.".These were not mere words. These sentences were the answers to many questions.
Children frequently put the question"why cant you understand dad?".He cant understand.Because he didnt face the similar situation when he was a child. He never asked his dad for pocket money. He never asked his dad for a bike.He never had a phone at his home. The children should start thinking in the parent's perspective.
I wont put all the blame into the children.Times have changed.People have changed.Mindsets of people have changed. The parentage had to change. So,did everything. So,parents should atleast make an attempt to get into the mind of their children and act accordingly.
How can this gap be filled would be the obvious question. The only way of filling the gap is better way of understanding.A single hand cant make a clap.A clap has to be made by both the hands. The children should try to analyse the parent's decision and the parents have to understand their children.
